March 31st, 2014: the Government of Myanmar stops the export of entire logs. After such a date, it is possible import sawed logs, boards and manufactured products. Burma aims at fostering the internal market and exploit raw materials. In view of strengthening the protectionist policy of the country and the safeguarding of forests, during 2014 fiscal year the tons of logs admitted to cutting in natural forests were considerably reduced. As for the future, the same behaviour should be maintained in order to safeguard the natural heritage of the Country. Cutting has already been forbidden in several areas of natural forests.
